The main purpose of the program is to train students, as journalists, in the substantive understanding of subject matter. The School of Journalism’s M.S. program offers concentrations in the types of news media; the M.A. program offers concentrations in realms of knowledge. It therefore draws deeply on expertise that resides elsewhere in the University, and entails a good deal of academic partnership between the Journalism School and the rest of the University. Concentrations are offered in four broad areas: arts and culture journalism, business and economics journalism, political journalism, and science and medical journalism.
All applicants to this program must apply through the School of Journalism. Please go to the School of Journalism website for more information about graduate admissions, degree requirements and financial aid.
