Dodge Fitness Center is located underground in the northwest corner of the Morningside Heights campus. It features three floors of cardiovascular and strength equipment, a 160-meter indoor running track, an eight-lane 25-yard swimming pool, multi-sport gymnasia, and ten squash courts. Additional charges apply for lockers, fitness classes, personal training, and club sports.
Hours of operation vary; see the Dodge Fitness Center website for more information.
Access to Dodge Fitness Center
Students who are assessed the University Facilities Fee on their term bill are granted access to Dodge Fitness Center and are not required to purchase a separate membership.
Students who are registered in the Matriculation & Facilities (M&F) category are not assessed the University Facilities Fee; however, GSAS will pay the Dodge access membership fee during the academic year for doctoral students in Arts and Sciences programs who are 1) registered for M&F and 2) either receiving their dissertation fellowship or otherwise eligible for GSAS funding through the multiyear funding package awarded upon admission.
In order to obtain access for the 2016-17 academic year, students who meet the above criteria must visit the Dodge membership office by October 31, 2016, with their Columbia ID card and state that they are eligible for a Student Access Membership funded by GSAS. The membership office will check their name against a list of students eligible for this program; students who believe that they are eligible for this program but are not listed should contact gsas-studentaffairs [at] columbia.edu.
Students Taking Classes or Working Uptown
GSAS students whose departments are based at the Morningside Heights campus but who are taking classes or working in a research laboratory at the Columbia University Medical Center campus may access the Bard Athletic Center, located at 50 Haven Avenue.
To obtain access to Bard, students must contact gsas-studentaffairs [at] columbia.edu.
