Note: This program is located on the Health Sciences campus in the College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The research activities of the program are in the areas of cell biology, molecular biology, and biophysics. More than ninety faculty from seven departments are potential research advisers for students. Details of the specific research programs can be found in the descriptions of the participating departments on the Health Sciences campus (Pathology and Cell Biology, Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Genetics and Development, Microbiology, Pharmacology, and Physiology and Cellular Biophysics) or here. Special Admissions Requirements:
- Only candidates for the PhD degree will be admitted.
- One full year each of general chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, physics, biology, and calculus. Admission may be granted in exceptional cases to applicants who have not fulfilled all of these requirements. In such cases, the deficiencies are remedied after admission by adding appropriate courses to the curriculum.
- The General GRE is required. One subject test in either biochemistry, biology, cell and molecular biology, chemistry, physics, or mathematics is recommended.
