Fulbright US Student Program
Application deadline: September 11, 2017, for applicants applying internally through Columbia; October 6, 2017, for at-large applicants. Write to Thalyana Stathis at ts2980 [at] columbia.edu with any questions.
Eligibility: MA and PhD students who are US citizens. The Fulbright provides grants for master’s programs, individually designed research projects, English teaching assistant programs, and digital storytelling fellowships for one academic year in a participating country outside the US.

Princeton Society of Fellows in the Liberal Arts
Application deadline: September 15, 2017
Eligibility: PhD candidates who are expected to have fulfilled all conditions for the degree by June 15, 2018

Harvard Academy for International and Area Studies Scholars Program
Application deadline: October 1, 2017
Eligibility: PhD candidates in the social sciences who have completed routine training and are well along in the writing of the thesis

NAEd/Spencer Dissertation Fellowship Program
Application deadline: October 5, 2017
Eligibility: PhD candidates who will have completed all pre-dissertation requirements by June 1, 2018, and whose dissertations cover the history, theory, analysis, or practice of formal or informal education anywhere in the world

Woodrow Wilson Dissertation Fellowships in Women’s Studies
Application deadline: October 15, 2017
Eligibility: PhD candidates in the humanities and social sciences who are writing on issues related to women, gender, women’s studies, or feminist/gender/LGBTQ theory, and expect to complete their degree by summer 2019

DAAD/German Academic Exchange Service Research Grants

National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP)

Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans

American Research Institute in Turkey Research Fellowships

Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection Junior Fellowships

Eligibility: PhD candidates engaged in research on Byzantine, garden and landscape, or pre-Columbian studies who at the time of application have fulfilled all preliminary requirements for the PhD and will work on the dissertation at Dumbarton Oaks under the direction of a faculty member from their own university

Eligibility: To receive these need-based awards, which range in amount from $1,000 to $5,000, students must be enrolled in an Arts and Sciences graduate program during the 2018-2019 academic year, and must meet the requirements of the relevant fellowship.
