University Statement on Affirmative Action

July 05, 2023

Dear GSAS Students,

I am sharing with you here the university’s statement regarding today’s Supreme Court ruling on Affirmative Action.

While our school will follow the law, I would like to reaffirm that we remain committed to fostering the diverse student body that is essential to our understanding of graduate education, and consequently, of the future of the academy. We will remain in contact with the university’s administration and with the deans of other schools as we collectively arrive at a comprehensive appraisal of the implications of this ruling for our students, faculty, staff, and the university community in general.

Sincerely,

Carlos J. Alonso, Dean
Graduate School of Arts and Sciences
